Practical Use of Colour

Practical Use of Colour

Let’s try a little exercise. Just for a moment or two, close your eyes and visualise the clothes in your wardrobe. Do any colours predominate, or do you have a nice even spread of colours across the rainbow?

Most people tend to prefer a certain range of colours over others, and the colours you see in your wardrobe are likely to be the ones you most resonate with, as well as the ones that suit you. You may even have had the experience of being absolutely clear on exactly what colour you want to wear in a specific situation – there’s a reason for that.

Colour is simply energy of different frequencies, which interacts powerfully with our energy field, producing different effects depending on the colour. Most of the decisions we make about which colours to surround ourselves with are unconscious, but colour is in fact one of the easiest metaphysical tools to work on a conscious level too.

How can we work with colour?

First let’s look at a few ideas on how you can work with a colour you’ve chosen to use, based on its properties (see more information on these below):

  • Imagine you’re surrounded in a silver bubble – it could be something like a soap bubble or more like a force field, and it’s shimmery and transparent, not like metal. Then fill this bubble with whatever colour you need.
  • Imagine you’re breathing the colour in or bathing in a coloured pool.
  • Wear the colour, even if it’s just a flash of it, or it’s hidden (coloured underwear works well for this!). It’s good to have a range of colours available, so if your wardrobe is mostly based in one part of the spectrum, see if you can balance it out a little by experimenting with some different colours.
  • Work with an appropriate coloured crystal or stone – hold it when you’re in need of those colour properties (plus you get the added bonus of the crystal’s energy too).
